The BeComEnsemble is a New York City based contemporary music ensemble co-founded by Christian-Frédéric Bloquert and Wong Foo Jeng in 2022 that prioritizes the programming of musical and interdisciplinary works by young artists of the highest caliber. The ensemble's goal is to redefine the concert going experience by providing artists a platform to showcase their works, and in doing so pave the way for greater innovation and curiosity.

Won Foo Jeng

Wong Foo Jeng
Artistic Director & Co-Founder

Foo Jeng is a Malaysian pianist and composer. It is the craft of storytelling that informs his musical character, and his work often finds itself between the spaces of Jazz and Classical music.

He’s both a finalist of The American Prize in Composition and winner of the El Paso Original Music/New Ideas Competition. Moreover, he’s also performed and composed music a number of festivals, namely: St. Petersburg New Music Festival, São Paulo Contemporary Composers Festival, Borneo Jazz Festival and the Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival (Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center).

Foo Jeng holds a degree in Music Performance from Berklee College of Music and is currently attending the Manhattan School of Music where he studies with Reiko Füting. His ultimate goal is to create stories from his art, and to uncover beauty in the tradition and evolution of music.

He is now the co-founder and Artistic Director of the BeComEnsemble based in New York City.

Christian-Frédéric Bloquert

Christian-Frédéric Bloquert is a French composer and a conductor. He is the co-founder and Music Director of the BeComEnsemble. His works have been performed by the Berklee Contemporary Symphony, the MIVOS Quartet, the PHACE Ensemble, the Symphony Orchestra of Brasilia, the Juilliard Symphony, the Basel Sinfonieorchester, and the Ensemble InterContemporain amongst others.


He was the recipient of the 2020 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composers Award and, in 2021, he was a finalist of the Basel Composition Competition. Later that year he also won the Juilliard Orchestra composition Competition. Bloquert was a 2022 Blueprint Fellow and was commissioned by the 2022 edition of the New York City Ballet's Choreographic Institute for which he also won the 2022 Israel/Pellman Prize.


He is a graduate from Berklee College of Music where he studied with Dr. Richard Carrick and Dr. Andrew List. During his studies he was awarded the John Bavicchi Memorial Prize for Outstanding Composition Achievement in both 2018 and 2019, and the Tibor Pusztai Prize for Outstanding ConductIng Achievement in 2019. He is also a graduate of the Juilliard School where he studied with Matthias Pintscher.

He is the co-founder and Music Director of the BeComEnsemble based in New York City.
